11:00am - 3:00pm
53rd St & S Prairie Ave
In the fall of 2022, artist Amanda Williams, in collaboration with Emerald South, led friends, family, neighbors, and strangers alike in a mass planting of red tulip bulbs in several vacant lots on the south side of Chicago. Flowers were planted in the shapes of homes and buildings that should still be standing, were it not for the discriminatory practice of redlining.
Those flowers are now blooming! We're having a free celebration to honor what was and rejoice in new futures. Come enjoy fun, games, and activities for all ages. Snacks and refreshments will be available.

This event is part of our Terra Firma program, which uses the vacant land on Chicago’s mid-South Side as an engine of opportunity for community wealth building.
